Data Collection
AI Transcribe does not collect any personal information. We have no servers, no user database, and no analytics infrastructure. We cannot access your recordings, transcripts, summaries, or any other content you create with the app.
When you use AI Transcribe, all audio is stored exclusively on your device using AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption. The encryption key is generated on first launch and stored in the iOS Keychain with kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly protection.
Network Requests
AI Transcribe is designed to be completely offline. The only outbound network requests the app ever makes are:
- One-time AI model download — the first time you enable high-accuracy transcription, the app downloads the Whisper model (~216 MB) from Hugging Face’s public CDN. After that, all transcription happens entirely on-device.
- App Store purchase verification — when you upgrade to Pro, the transaction is handled by Apple’s StoreKit framework. We never see your payment details, name, or email.
Your audio, transcripts, summaries, and any personally identifiable information are never transmitted anywhere. The app does not have the code to make those requests — verify this for yourself with a network proxy like Charles or Proxyman.
Permissions
AI Transcribe requests the following device permissions, all used solely within the app:
- Microphone — required to record audio. Audio is written directly to encrypted storage on your device.
- Speech Recognition — uses iOS’s built-in
SFSpeechRecognizerwithrequiresOnDeviceRecognition = true. Apple’s speech recognition runs entirely on-device for supported locales. - Face ID / Touch ID — optional app lock to protect your recordings. Biometric data is managed entirely by Apple’s Secure Enclave; we never see it.
In-App Purchases
The free tier includes 5 recordings of up to 20 minutes each. Upgrading to AI Transcribe Pro removes both limits.
When you purchase AI Transcribe Pro, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple’s App Store. We receive only an anonymous receipt to unlock Pro features. We do not receive your name, email address, payment information, or Apple ID.
AI Transcribe Pro is a one-time purchase — no subscriptions, no recurring charges.
Third-Party Services
AI Transcribe does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services. The app uses only Apple’s first-party frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData, AVFoundation, CryptoKit, Speech, NaturalLanguage) plus open-source Swift packages for AI inference (WhisperKit) that run entirely on your device.
Data Export & Portability
You can export any recording or transcript at any time as TXT, Markdown, Word-compatible RTF, SRT subtitles, or PDF. You own your data and can take it with you whenever you choose.
Data Deletion
To delete all your data, simply delete the AI Transcribe app from your device. Since no data is stored on any server, deletion is immediate and irreversible. We recommend exporting anything you want to keep before deletion.
Children’s Privacy
AI Transcribe is rated 4+ and contains no content inappropriate for children. The app is designed for personal and professional voice recording. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Diagnostic Logs
The app includes an optional “Export Diagnostics” button in Settings that generates a local report containing device info, app version, and the last hour of in-app log messages. The report is generated entirely on-device and shown via the system share sheet — whether you share it with us or not is entirely your choice. We never receive logs automatically.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. For material changes, we will notify users via an in-app notice.
